Pool Heating West Gate
Lets face it, A Cold Pool Is No Pool! No on wants to swim in a cold pool! At Tropical Pool Heating and Renovation, we offer you three different pool heating solutions. Electric Pool Heat Pumps, Gas Pool Pumps and Solar Pool Pumps. There are advantages and disadvantages to all. It really comes down to personal preference. Let’s briefly discuss the differences.
Gas Pool Pumps
Gas pool heaters are by far the best heating source. Gas pool heaters can heat your pool and spa the fastest; at higher temperatures and at any outside temperature. Gas pool heaters run on either natural or LP (propane) gas to heat the pool water. Heat is transferred from a live flame to copper coils which water flows over and the heat is transferred to the water. Residential heaters can have a heat output starting at 200,000 to 400,000 BTUs. Life expectancy for gas pool heaters varies depending on outside conditions and climate. Gas pool heaters generally have a lower unit cost than solar and heat pumps, but cost of operation can be quite pricey. You must also have natural gas running to the property or a Propane (LP) tank on property.

Electric Pool Pumps
Electric pool pumps are a reliable pool heating option.. Heat pumps utilize outside ambient air to help heat the water. Using a compressor and heat exchanger, air is compressed into a gas refrigerant state then transferred to the pool water cycling through the unit before returning to the pool. Electric is only used to power the unit giving the unit and eco-friendly rating. Electric Heat pumps are more efficient than gas heaters in temperatures above 50 degrees F. They are thermostatically controlled and only operate when your pool filtration equipment is cycling. Heat pumps are long lasting and impervious to chemical corrosion thanks to the titanium heat exchangers used. Cost to purchase are more than a gas heater, but cost of operation is much less.

Solar Pool Pumps
SOLAR pool heating works by using black panels that absorb the heat from the sun to heat your swimming pool water. Solar will heat your pool water 5 – 10 degrees above ambient air temperature. Most of the time, the panels are mounted on your roof. Pool water will travel to the roof via PVC piping and circulate through the warmed panels before returning to the swimming pool. Cost to purchase the panels varies with pool size and gallonage and can cost more than a heat pump. Operational cost is zero. So this method is extremely economically friendly but there is no guarantee that you can reach desired temperatures. It all depends on the amount of sunlight and temperature. This form of heating is not recommended for spas.
